Improvement of the basic quality of the masses in Weining County

According to the yearbook of China's Poverty Alleviation and Development, China has made a great improvement of the basic quality of the masses and stable development of poverty reduction industry in impoverished rural areas in Weining County of Guizhou Province.
Basic quality of the masses
By holding agricultural industrialization skills training, training of farmers and technical backbone, labor transfer training, Guizhou-Shenzhen Rain Train, Rain Plan and other technical trainings and vocational education in various forms, the county rapidly improved the basic quality of the masses in poor rural areas and enhanced the inherent capability for poverty reduction.
Poverty reduction industry
Driven by the "Weining Pilot Program", supported by poverty-relief funds, it gradually cultivated the “four side” planting of walnut trees of 43466 mu, standardized planting of walnut trees of 84500 mu and grassland ecological animal husbandry area of 7460 mu, bred 5680 ewes and 284 rams as well as 924 cows. With the development of Chinese herbal medicine industry, mainly in Zhejue and Heishitou, thousands of rural households began to construct standardized Chinese herbal bases.
As for potato industry, in accordance with the requirements of "establishing seed potato multiplication system and demonstration bases", we strengthened the original species propagation, adjusted the product structure and enhanced the level of cultivation to achieve the transformation from single-season planting to multi-season planting, from regular planting to featured planting and from late-maturing to early-maturing, completed the construction of more than 10,000 mu of potato seed species expansion bases, and supported the construction of three boutique apple bases.
